Lenten Mission with Fr. Richard Benson

Our deepest gratitude to Fr. Richard Benson for this remarkable Mission these past 3 days (March 24-26, 2025).  His thought provoking teachings, deep knowledge of our Catholic doctrine and above all, his humor, will leave an indelible mark on over 200 who attended the retreat in person or live stream.  If you would like to re-visit the daily Mission, Vimeo recordings are linked to the respective day’s.  Equally amazing is our Pastor, Fr. Mike Ume, on giving such detailed summary we all can reflect on from time to time.  We are so fortunate and thankful to have priest scholars to provide spiritual nourishment.  We are very blessed!

Thank You from Fr. Ricahrd Benson on Parish Mission Collection

I just wanted to thank you again for the privilege of being asked to give the Lenten Mission at Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish last month.  Also, in the name of the Vincentians, I want to thank you for the generosity of your parishioners who participated in the Mission.  The final total of the free will offering for the Vincentian Missions in Africa was $4,318.55.  This was wonderful, amazing, and fantastic.  We have decided to send it to our struggling mission in Eritrea where I personally know the provincial treasurer, Fr. Zerachristos, who worked with me when I was superior of our Kenyan Mission.

Please assure your parishioners that every penny they offered at the conclusion of the Mission is now safely on its way to Eritrea. The money will be used to repair a building to be used for sick and elderly priests. The entire project will only cost about $43,000 USD.  The money collected at ABVM pays for almost 10%, what a blessing!  God is Great!

May God bless you all,

Fr. Richard
